Digital Product Passports, ready before your deadline
From 18 February 2027, EV batteries, batteries for e-bikes, e-mopeds and e-scooters, and industrial batteries above 2 kWh placed on the EU market need a digital product passport. Iron and steel, aluminium, textiles, furniture, tyres and mattresses follow under the Ecodesign Regulation. Offsite takes each product from the data you already have to a published passport, customized for your business and priced to its scale.
Offsite completed the European Commission's organisation verification as an economic operator in the Digital Product Passport Registry on 31 October 2026, sealed with a qualified electronic seal. The registry publishes no list of verified organisations; our confirmation is shown here.
What a Digital Product Passport is
A product's own data record, reached through a QR code on the product: what it is made of, where it comes from, how it is used, repaired and recycled. Under the Ecodesign Regulation (EU) 2024/1781, the brand keeps that data itself or authorises an independent service provider to process it and make it available.
When it applies
- 20 July 2026: the EU Digital Product Passport Registry became operational.
- 18 February 2027: battery passports become mandatory for the categories above, home storage included.
- Next: iron and steel, aluminium, textiles, furniture, tyres and mattresses under the Ecodesign Regulation, each product group on its own date.
How we work
- Connect. Product data from your Shopify store, ERP or PIM is loaded through our documented REST API.
- Complete. Missing data and evidence are requested from your suppliers, checked, and every remaining gap is listed.
- Publish. Each passport goes live at a permanent address with its QR code, versioned, hosted in the EU and backed up at a second EU location. Nothing is published without your approval.
- Register. We guide your company through its own verification in the EU registry, including the qualified electronic seal it requires, and keep each passport ready to register.
The registry will accept battery passport registrations once the Commission completes the semantic catalogue for batteries. Your passports can be published and ready before that day.
