HyreKit Companion

A free Android app that turns a phone into your rental counter. Scan a machine out, scan it back.

What it does

• Hand out. Scan the code on a machine. The app finds today's booking for that product, you pick the customer if there is more than one, add engine hours if the machine has a meter, and confirm.
• Take back. Scan the same machine. The app knows it is out, shows who has it, and takes the return — hours are added to that unit and you can leave a condition note.
• Works offline. In a yard with poor signal, confirmations queue up and sync themselves when the connection returns.
• One device, one key. Pair a phone with a one-time code from your HyreKit admin. If a phone is lost, revoke it from the same page. No shared passwords.

Labelling your gear

You do not need a special printer or a matching label. The simplest way:

1. Stick any barcode or QR sticker on a machine — a plain roll from any office supplier works.
2. Open the app, choose the product, and scan the sticker.
3. That unit now exists in HyreKit with that code. Repeat down the row.

If you prefer to print your own: HyreKit exports a CSV for label printers (Brother P-touch, Dymo, Zebra) and can print a QR sheet for plain sticker paper. QR is recommended — it still reads through scratches, mud and oil.

Requirements

• A HyreKit shop with the Companion switch turned on (Apps → HyreKit → Companion app).
• Android 8 or later, with a camera.
• The app is free. It only works with a HyreKit shop.
